“Salon Mom”. With over 16 years in the craft professionally, it was time for her to form a handpicked team with a long history. Name another hairstylist in Buffalo that is as well rounded as this gal, it'll be tough. She's trained with best at Bumble&Bumble University, and even Oribe himself. She was also featured on VH1's 'Transform Me' where she had the opportunity to team up with Laverne Cox and perform a makeover on a wonderful fellow Buffalonian. Erin's worked NY Fashion Week, been published in various places, and is a go-to for bands coming through the area. Building this brand and elevating her team is Erin's biggest goal for the future.
After more than a decade in the industry, Grace has decided that she wants to give up hair cutting and really hone in on her skills and specialize in color (which is cool with us since she's already a master). She loves doing beautiful, natural colors, though you know she can rock out any goodDYEyoung fantasy hue as well. In her downtime, you'll most likely find her next door at the doggy day care crying over golden retrievers, or road tripping with her pals to see their favourite bands. Hopefully down the line we'll find her adding "goodDYEyoung brand ambassador" to her resume.
Also known as "Ches", Chelsey is 5 years in to this industry and shows no signs of slowing down, despite also having a few spinal surgeries under her belt. She loves doing a nice balayage followed by a bangin' blowout, but is truly inspired by edgy/weird/out of the box haircuts. Ches has had various trainings with brands like Oribe and Bumble&Bumble, has had her hair and makeup work published in print by Auxiliary Magazine, and has also been posted on American Salon's social media platforms. Named as a 2016 Taste Maker in Buffalo Spree, her dream is to never stop learning, and to take her talents around the country, doing hair and makeup for a touring band.
Sarah is truly the start of change in our industry. We’ve worked along side her for years, and starting in January 2019, crown + MJ. Rose will begin an unprecedented partnership in Buffalo. Sarah + husband (our hair brother) James Hickey had an amazing opportunity to snag a North Buffalo space in Fall of 2018. With Sarah being of her own family’s studio, yet loving the collective atmosphere of crown, she is going to keep a regular day in our group.
She specializes in techniques like balayage + dimensional blonding, upstyles, and men’s grooming. Sarah is always ready and willing to participate in any education that will enhance her skill set. When she's not in the salon, you'll most likely find her hanging out with her husband + kids in the great outdoors, dancing, or at a Sabres game. While Sarah calls Buffalo home, she dreams of styling for the runway at NY Fashion Week (and she absolutely will).
Cara joined the team in the Fall of 2018. She and Grace had worked side by side leading up to crown, and found they were very like-mined when it comes to hair. With the ability to expand because of Ignite, she was the only person who came to mind.
Cara “specializes in bed head” - that lived-in, natural texture. Her cutting foundation includes having attended a 5 day intensive cutting class. She’s also a skilled colorist, wanting to expand her education all the time. When Catmom’s out of the shop, she’s probably riding around with her bff Jodi of Spoke & Dagger. We can’t wait to start advancing our team with this reunion.
Karen joined us in early 2019, but she is no stranger to this crew. She has worked alongside both Grace and Cara in past years. She is a skilled colorist, and is ready to offer cuts, styling + waxing services. One of her signature services is a balayage-foil hybrid, resulting in a vibrant but natural blonde. Karen’s personal style inspo gravitates toward 70’s aesthetic plus a lil glam.
When she’s not behind the chair, you can find her hanging out with her furry friends Ghost + Dobby at the dog park, deep in a good book, or planning her next quick getaway to see a new city.
We can’t get to know all Karen’s guests, and we know she’s going to click with many few faces as she grows with us!
crown - elise puckhaber
Elise makes everything at crown possible. From reserving appointments to making sure we're stocked with all the supplies we need, she's always there for all of us. She has years of experience running the show, as well as the rare benefit of having completed Cosmetology school. The crown crew is very lucky to have found our perfect match when it comes to experience and standards. Our team is sure to grow, thanks to this lady!
Audrey is an all-around artist. She's been in the field professionally for over 3 years, but her inspiration began long ago. In the beginning, makeup application was her go-to when procrastinating college homework. There, she found her true passion. She excels in the bridal world as well as creating dramatic looks for more avant-garde needs. Audrey draws inspiration from artist Pat McGrath, Melt cosmetics, and even her own North Buffalo neighborhood. When she's not putting on a face, you can catch her hanging out with her lil birdie, Elsie, visiting our friends at Lloyd, or creating fiber art with hoops. We're so thankful to have Audrey on the team.
Katie joined the crew in August 2018. The search for advancing education drew her to us. She’s super excited to learn everything from short cuts to upstyling. After seeing what we’ve been up to - and let’s face it, the pups as well- she came onto our radar. When she’s not in the shop, you can find her with her dog, or outdoors anywhere from on a snowboard to a beach. Katie shares our passion for inspiration from travel as well. We look forward to growing her experience in the craft!
Marissa has been with the team since 2018. She’s diving right in to the industry, seeking a higher skill set. Buffalo is a small world, and her Mom was even one of Erin’s guests when she was starting out. Marissa is particularly interested in color and extensions, picking up knowledge every day wherever she can.
She’s a perfect addition to the team, loves our pups, good music, and loves seeing the resurgence of our historic neighborhood as much as we do. We can’t wait to work with Marissa in helping her achieve her hair dreams and goals.
Monster is our original grandma. Most days, she's at the shop, getting all the cuddles + making everyone relax. Little Monstie came to live with Erin in 2006, but this old lady still acts like a puppy. After she leaves the shop, she regularly visits a long term care facility to spread some puggy smooches. This image of her is one of her faves, because she knows Luke Copping will always make you look good! We're all so happy that our home at 500 Seneca is dog-friendly!
"The term bogan (/ˈboʊɡən/) is a derogatory Australian + New Zealand slang word used to describe a person whose speech, clothing, attitude + behaviour exemplify values considered unrefined or unsophisticated."
...but really, he is our lovable lil shop scoundrel. Bogan came from Cincinnati, Ohio to live with Grace in June 2017. He's got his cat siblings Lily + Jack to keep him company when he's not greeting all of our guests. Well on his way to becoming a certified therapy dog, he's getting all the snuggles + socialization right here in crown. His perfect coat has been a hair color inspiration. Keep up with his adventures on Instagram by searching #boganthegolden.
wylie + boomer
These brothers are Elise’s babies + Bogan’s besties. Wylie is just a little older than his (bigger) little brother Boomer the Benese, and he’s showing Boomie the ropes. And the bones. And the toy bucket. And how to get the #cutandcuddle .
